The Caped Crusader is returning. It's been almost four years since Rocksteady's last Batman game, but Batman: Arkham Knight is upon us in a couple of month's time. The highly anticipated finale to the Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Knight is a visually stunning open-world adventure set once more in Gotham City.
Set one year after the events of Arkham City, Batman must confront the Scarecrow, who has gathered some of Gotham's finest super villains in the ultimate plot to take down the Dark Knight once and for all. New to this outing is a fully driveable Batmobile, which can be called upon at a moment's notice to whisk Bruce Wayne away down the darkened streets. Batman: Arkham Knight hits on June 23rd worldwide, so at least you've got a bit of time to prepare your rig, which you might need to once you've seen the official Batman: Arkham Knight system requirements...

As you can no doubt tell, these are some eye-wateringly high system requirements. Compared to Batman's previous outing, Arkham Origins, these are a significant leap up, across the board. While Batman: Arkham Knight runs on the same Unreal Engine 3, Rocksteady must be pulling out all the stops with what the engine is capable of here.
First up the CPUs. Even at the minimum these are pretty meaty, despite their age. CPU usage in Batman: Arkham Knight effectively caps out with the Core i7-3700 and the FX-8350, so anything above and beyond this likely will have zero impact on performance gains.
Looking at recommended graphics cards for Batman: Arkham Knight this really isn't too bad. Both the GTX 760 and the R9 280 are decent, but they're still towards the mid-range. These requirements are in fact lower than plenty of others, like AC Unity, and on a par with the likes of Shadow of Mordor. You should be getting decent performance in Batman: Arkham Knight with any card around these area, even the likes of the 750 Ti and the R9 270 should be capable of very decent graphics settings.
The Ultra system requirements for Batman: Arkham Knight are ludicrously high but this needs to be taken into context. Few games ever provide Ultra requirements, and the GTX 980 or R9 290X will likely only be for absolutely maxing every single setting out. In terms of actual graphical differences we'll have to wait and see, but certainly GTX 970s, 960s and the like will be up, or near Ultra settings.
