Welcome back, Mr Blazkowicz, it's been a while. The no-holds-barred godfather of first-person-shooters in back in a fortnight with Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. The official system requirements for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood are out now, and you can get a look at exactly what gaming rig you'll need for MachineGames latest adventure.
A standalone expansion pack for The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is set before the events of its predecessor, spanning two interweaving narratives leading up to the storming of General Deathshead's compound. Nazi zombies, maniacal schemes, and robotic nightmares are the order of the day here, where we find out the secrets begin Helga Von Schabbs. It's out on May 4th, but ahead of then be sure to check out the Wolfenstein: The Old Blood system requirements.
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Minimum System Requirements
- OS: Windows 7 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2600 2.8 GHz or AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz
- RAM: 4 GB System Memory
- GPU: GeForce GTX 560 or Radeon HD 6870
- GPU RAM: 1GB Video Memory
- HDD: 38GB Available Space
- DX: DirectX 11
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Recommended System Requirements
- CPU: Intel Core i7-930 2.8GHz or AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz
- RAM: 8 GB System Memory
- GPU RAM: 3GB Video Memory
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R9 280
These system requirements for Wolfenstein: The Old Blood are surprisingly quite a leap up from those of the base game - The New Order. It's not clear what the reasons are for this, unless MachineGames is looking to included more expanded, open areas to explore. So far we've seen the snow covered bridge crossing but there plenty of impressive set-pieces in the original.
Whatever the case, the difference between Wolfenstein: The Old Blood's minimum and recommended requirements are actually extremely small, offering just incremental leaps up. When The New Order's system requirements came out these were swiftly followed by some far lower minimums, and we'd expect Wolfenstein: The Old Blood to be perfectly playable with far lesser hardware. If you could play the original without a hitch then we don't foresee any problems for you here, and if you haven't got round to it then it's definitely worth a shot. One of the top, top games of last year.
