As sure as day follows night, it looks like Ubisoft is following up its latest AAA franchise with a sequel. An unwitting Ubisoft employee let slip the news that he’s a senior gameplay programmer on Watch Dogs 2 via his online CV.
The programmer, Julien Risse, works at Ubisoft’s Paris studio, and, on his LinkedIn profile, features earlier titles such as Watch Dogs and its Bad Blood DLC, as well as the upcoming Watch Dogs 2 project.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of a potential Watch Dogs 2 either. Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot has previously talked up the possibility of a sequel, suggest the baseball cap-toting Aiden Pearce may not be returning. Watch Dogs’ creative director Jonathan Morin also suggested using the first game as a springboard, much as the first Assassin’s Creed was, with the opportunity for “trying crazy stuff” in sequels.
The original Watch Dogs is still the holder of Ubisoft’s biggest first day sales in history, becoming the biggest launch of a new IP in the UK in the process. As of December 2014, Watch Dogs had shifted 10 million units across all platforms, making it an obvious candidate for sequel success.
We've had a year now to reflect on the original Watch Dogs, what do you make of it after all this time? How would you like to see the world expanded for Watch Dogs 2?
