The full details have emerged of Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce GTX 980 Ti, its latest high-end graphics card set to go toe to toe with its almighty GeForce GTX Titan X. Expected to launch on June 2nd, the GeForce GTX 980 Ti will be the second most powerful graphics card on the market, matching the Titan X in almost every regard but packing a cheaper price point.
Nvidia’s GTX 980 Ti comes loaded with a cut down GM200-310 variant of the GM200 GPU found in the Titan X. On the specs front it features 2816 cores, 176 texture mapping units (TMUs) and 96 raster operations pipelines (ROPs), alongside 6GB GDDR5 memory running on a 384-bit memory interface.
Rounding things off, the GTX 980 Ti has memory clocked at 7GHz for a total bandwidth of 336GB/s. The core clock is 1000MHz and the boost clock of the 980 Ti is 1076MHz. All of this is powered by an 8+6 pin power connector.
On the output side of things, Nvidia differs from AMD’s next flagship in offering legacy support, with DVI, HDMI, and three Display Ports.
On the pricing side of things, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti will retail for a recommended price of $799. This puts it slap bang in the middle of the GTX 980 and Titan X, which are $200 cheaper and $250 more expensive respectively.
So far only EVGA has revealed its listing of GTX 980 Ti's, with a total of five variants coming from Nvidia's hardware partner. These include the reference models as well as SuperClocked and SuperClocked+ versions. The prices range from $799 up to $827.
Obviously there will plenty more getting involved soon, with the GeForce GTX 980 Ti officially launching in just four days' time on June 2nd, at Computex Taipei.
All the details are out there now then, will you be picking an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti up when it launches next week?
