Microsoft’s Outlook.com to get design revamp and a range of new features

Microsoft Outlook is getting an image overhaul, in the form of a design revamp and a range of new features.

The tech giant has tweaked its email service to offer a more refined inbox, featuring “Clutter”, which can be trained to organize messages and place those most likely to be ignored in a separate folder. Other new developments include search suggestions and refiners, link previews and pins and flags, as well as the addition of 13 new graphic design themes.
According to TheVerge, the company is improving the search interface and search suggestions ‘will automatically highlight the people you email regularly when you’re searching for content’. There’s also the Refiners feature which will allow users to filter search results based on folder, date, sender and so on.
“Search was one of the weak points of Outlook.com, so it’s encouraging to see Microsoft address this,” the report adds.
This update, which is part of a wider overhaul of the Office 365-based infrastructure, is currently available to a small group of users in Preview. The new-look result will be made available to a broader audience through an opt-in program over the coming weeks.
