Instagram announced that its Layout tool is now available on Android, as is the just-announced Structure. Layout, which launched in March on iOS, is a standalone app for creating collages of iPhone pictures. Its features include the ability to automatically find pictures containing faces, and the option of sharing collages on Facebook or Instagram.
Layout is now available on Google Play Store. Structure, which has also just launched on Android, is a creative tool the company says “brings out details and textures.” It is “coming soon” for iOS.
Layout, is the second app that Facebook-owned Instagram has released. Last August, it came out with Hyperlapse, which lets users create time-lapse videos to share on Instagram. Layout basically lets users choose custom layouts for photo collages, rearranging the images and adjusting their size and shape. A feature called Faces shows users all the photos in their camera that feature people. Another tool, called Photo Booth, works like a real-life photo booth, counting down to capture photos instantly.
Earlier, Instagram had rolled out new ‘carousel’ ads will allows brands to post multiple images, which users can scroll through by swiping their finger across the phone’s screen. Instagram, which Facebook acquired in 2012 for $1 billion, has 300 million monthly users.
